Considering therapy is a huge first step. But now you have a bunch of choices to make about that therapy. One of the first choices you need to make is whether to take your therapy online or in person. Online therapy, or telehealth as it’s often called, is another mode of therapy that was popularized during the pandemic. Though it came of age so-to-speak during a time when the world was shut down and we couldn’t leave our houses, it continues to be a valid mode of operation for receiving therapy today.
What is Online Therapy?
Telehealth therapy is a therapy held via an online and secure platform. At Foundations, we use Zoom’s HIPAA compliant to host our sessions. This platform allows us to host your sessions securely without worry of your HIPAA rights being violated. Otherwise, the sessions function just like traditional therapy sessions do. You sign into a waiting room and are let into your session, which is 50 minutes long. Then you can leave and go about your day.
Reasons Why You Should Consider an Online Therapist
Just because you’re receiving an online service doesn’t mean that the care is subpar. Our therapists who have their practice online have gone through the same rigorous training that our in-person therapists have. There are other benefits as well:
- You have more flexibility in scheduling. Because you’re not having to take into account driving time, you’re able to have more flexibility when scheduling your sessions. You generally only need to set aside an hour instead of two or even three, depending on how far away the office is.
- It’s just as effective as traditional therapy. UCLA looked at over 100 studies and concluded that for things like anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD, it didn’t matter if the patient was treated online or in person – participants in the therapy made significant improvements.
- You get the same great level of care. At our facility, we maintain that you get the same great level of care regardless if you’re seen in person or if you’re seen telehealth. That’s because our practitioners are trained to the highest degree, and it doesn’t matter if they see patients online or in person. They will act with professionalism and care either way.
- If you’re in a rural area, you can get quality treatment. We see rural patients. Sometimes, it’s hard to get medical care if you’re in a rural area – but not with us. If you’re in a rural area of Texas, and are looking for therapeutic care, we will treat you.
Online therapy is a great resource if you’re pressed for time or want an environment that you’re more at ease in than a therapist’s office. It allows you to get quality treatment on your own time as it’s a more flexible option than in-person therapy.
If you’re looking for an online therapist in the state of Texas, we have several who are accepting new patients:
